The library is a collection of oddly shaped and mysterious books, each one totally unique in format and materials, completing the mythological conceits set up in the texts. The materials used range from wooden flower presses to antique piano keys, from old bones to rusty tins and have been collected throughout my travels of the last four years through India, Mexico and New York. Each piece is constructed and finished meticulously, utilizing techniques from jewellery making, sculpture, painting, sewing and bookbinding.

The texts are of an autobiographical nature, often dark but ultimately hopeful and are heavily steeped in mysticism and symbolism, stories within stories, with text and illustration merging into one. A journey is chronicled in this library over numerous books, techniques and materials, because the nature of the storytelling requires that even the books themselves must be talismans and enchanted objects.

i spent the last week with my friends mike (craziest, smartest, weirdest person i ever met!) and deb. mike is my swordsmithing teacher and they live way out in the bush with a lot of kangaroos, birds, horses, sheep and then there is walter... walter the 25 kilo wombat who thinks mike is his mum. the place is a little like wolf creek, but without ivan.
had a lot of hot baths under the stars, tonnes of tea, lots of talking to animals, some cooking, some sewing, oh and a little swordsmithing...
its nice to be home though...

well, i suppose i should put up some pictures from Duende. the whole thing was a real trip... even we thought it was weird. somehow, just at the last moment, everything just sort of fell into place and it all made sense in its own, strange and mysterious way.
eventually, we'll set up a website for the Duende Project with more pictures and some probably rather vague abstracts and other writings. but thats later... shanti shanti... i only have about ten thousand other things i have to do first.
so to the few people who read this, stay tuned! i'm really going to make an effort to write on here more!
